Family Therapy                 


  1. Families can be complicated. Each member has his/her needs, temperament,  personality,  and developmental age.  Often family members may fulfills a role in the family that is different than expected. This may occur if one of the parents or siblings experiences some impairment. Sometimes one child is brought to family therapy and thought to be a problem. However, this child may be acting out or expressing  problems in the family and is called the identified patient.  The  family therapist  views problems as patterns or dynamics that need adjusting, as opposed to viewing problems as residing in the individual.
